We make both a series of straight punties and counter weighted punties. We have found that many people prefer straight punties simply because they have always used them. Many prefer counter-weighted punties because the perform well. Here are some of the key differences between the two different styles.
Great things about Counter Weighted punties
- The counterweight in our punties serves primarily to offset the weight of you work and gives a well-balanced tool that is more comfortable to use.
- The flared heads in our larger counterweighted punties weighs more than a straight head, thus storing heat and allowing the punty to last slightly longer outside the glory hole.
- Flared heads create more reliable crack off's than straight heads because they are less likely to fuse to the bottom of the glass.
- Straight punties are much less expensive because they require less material and machining.
- Traditional Italian design.
Great things about Straight punties
- More people are used to using a straight or straight “step down” punty.
- ¾" and above either come standard with a grip or can have a grip added. The grip allows more torque than a counterweighted punty. Great for solid working.
- Much less expensive than counterweighted punties.
